About Us

Ancora Vino is a wine importer, distributor and private wine label. We are headquartered in Seattle Washington and founded in 2020. Our goal is to provide the best wine experience to everyone by importing unique wines from all over Italy and distributing them through our network of retailers and restaurants. We believe that wine should be fun and adventurous, so we focus on finding rare and interesting wines that will excite people’s taste buds. Our mission is to put the customer first and help you discover the joys of wine. Join us on this journey to help bring these wines from vine to table.

My Name is Maria

Everything in life has led me to where I am now, an importer, distributor, and private-label wine producer. During the pandemic, I was not expecting an opportunity to come knocking at my door. That all changed when my long-time friend and winemaker from Toscana came to my home and said: “Maria, you need to tell your story about your love for wine.”
Being born into an Italian-American family, my love for wine came naturally. My grandfather, whom we called “Papoo”, was a man from Calabria, a land rich in tradition, where everything is grown and produced locally. He was passionate about his garden and took pride in providing food for his family directly from his land. Growing up in a family rooted in the traditions of my grandparents has instilled in me the same passion and love for my Italian heritage.

I have always been in the restaurant business, even as a junior in high school when I worked in fast food. I then moved to Stuart Anderson Black Angus, which laid the foundation for everything I know about giving impeccable service and showed me the value of working hard. Looking back, everything I learned was invaluable, even as a high school student. I continued working until I turned 27, when I had the first of my three boys.

Eventually, in 1991 I became a partner in Grazie Ristorante, a family-owned Italian restaurant. Together with my husband, we ran successful Italian restaurants, which reignited my love for Italian culture and inspired me to pursue my passion, not only for Italian food, but also for Italian wine. I have been to Italy over 50 times, and in 2017 I decided to live in Milan for one year, which is when I began learning the Italian language. Yes, this language of romance has kept me vested in continuing to learn everything Italian.
